Inter Miami, led by Argentine star Lionel Messi, has been knocked out of the CONCACAF Champions Cup after losing both legs of the semifinal.
In the second leg, Inter Miami lost 3-1 to Vancouver Whitecaps FC from Canada. Combined with the 2-0 loss in the first leg, they were eliminated with an overall score of 5-1.
Inter Miami started the second leg well, taking an early lead. Jordi Alba scored in the 9th minute at the Chase Stadium in Florida. However, they could not keep the lead.
Vancouver Whitecaps made a strong comeback. Brian White equalized in the 51st minute. Then, Pedro Vite scored in the 53rd minute and Sebastian Berhalter added another in the 71st minute.
Now, Vancouver Whitecaps will play in the final against the winner between two Mexican clubs: Cruz Azul and Tigres UANL. Their first leg ended in a 1-1 draw.
The CONCACAF Champions Cup features top football clubs from North America, Central America, and the Caribbean. Mexican club Club América has won the most titles with 7 wins, followed by Pachuca, another Mexican club, which has won it 6 times, including last year.
