Nepal bans Telegram app over fraud and money laundering concerns
Nepal Telecommunication Authority has ordered a ban on the Telegram app in Nepal. The authority issued a notice instructing all service providers to immediately block access to the app.
In the notice, the authority stated that cases of online fraud through Telegram have been increasing. It also mentioned that the app is suspected of being involved in serious crimes like money laundering. Therefore, all telecom service providers have been directed to block or shut down access to Telegram.
