Nepal won their second match against Sri Lanka in the SAFF U-20 Women’s Championship with another big scoreline. In Thursday’s game held at the Bashundhara Sports Ground in Dhaka, Nepal beat Sri Lanka 7-0.
Nepal scored 4 goals in the first half and added 3 more in the second half.
Samikshya Magar scored twice for Nepal. Purnima Rai, Kusum Khatiwada, Sarita Nath, and Birsana Chaudhary each scored one goal. Nepal also got one goal from a Sri Lankan own goal.
Purnima gave Nepal the lead with a tap-in goal in the 15th minute. Kusum doubled the lead in the 35th minute. Sarita scored a free-kick in the 43rd minute to make it 3-0. Just before halftime, Kusum’s shot deflected off a defender and went in, making it 4-0.
In the second half, Birsana scored from a penalty in the 67th minute. Then Samikshya added two more goals in the 74th and 78th minutes, increasing the lead to 7-0.
In the 90th minute, Birsana took another penalty, but the Sri Lankan goalkeeper saved it. No more goals were scored after that, and Nepal secured a 7-0 win.
Nepal had also won their first match against Sri Lanka by the same 7-0 score.
With this win, Nepal now has 9 points from 4 matches and is at the top of the table. Bangladesh, who has played one game less, also has 9 points from 3 matches but is second due to goal difference.
Bangladesh will play Bhutan later in the evening.
