Nepal knocked out of SAFF U-17 women’s title race after 4-1 loss to Bangladesh

Nepal has suffered its second straight defeat against Bangladesh in the ongoing SAFF U-17 Women’s Championship in Bhutan, ending its chances of winning the title.

In the match played at Changlimithang Stadium, Thimphu, on Wednesday afternoon, Nepal lost 4-1. Sauravi Akanda Prity scored a hat-trick for Bangladesh.

Bangladesh scored in the 38th and 45th minutes of the first half, while Nepal pulled one goal back in injury time, finishing the half 2-1. In the second half, Bangladesh added two more goals in the 73rd and 87th minutes to secure a 4-1 win.

Earlier, Nepal had lost 7-0 to India in the opening match, defeated Bhutan 2-1 in the second, and then lost 3-0 to Bangladesh in the third.

The tournament features only four teams: Nepal, India, Bangladesh, and hosts Bhutan. The team with the highest points will win the championship.

Nepal will next face India and Bhutan in its remaining matches.
