Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has said that Sudip Neupane from Rupandehi, Nepal, died in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, India.
Nyaupane was a student studying engineering in Nepal. He had gone to visit the area during his vacation when the attack happened.
“He had gone to visit with his mother, and this incident occurred during that time,” the minister said during a talk with security journalists on Thursday. “This is the initial information we have.”
The government is in contact with the embassy to get more details.
On Tuesday, a terrorist attack took place in a tourist area in Kashmir, killing at least 26 people.
The attack happened in a place called Baisaran, which is 6 kilometers from Pahalgam. The attackers specifically targeted tourists.
According to Indian media, Baisaran is very beautiful and is often called “Mini Switzerland.” It is a popular destination for visitors.
The attackers shot and killed tourists after asking for their names, according to a report by Dainik Bhaskar. Those killed include citizens from Nepal, the UAE, and different Indian states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Odisha.
Some tourists were also injured in the attack.
