Nepali youths plan protest after Reddit ban

The Nepal government has banned several social media platforms from Thursday for not being registered. One of them is Reddit.

Young people active on Reddit have announced protests against the government’s move. Communities like Nepal and Nepal Social are calling for a nationwide protest against corruption on September 8.

According to posts, the protest will begin at 9 am in front of the parliament building in Kathmandu. In Pokhara, it will be held in front of the city hall, and in other cities, in front of government offices.

Many see Reddit as an alternative social media platform. It is mostly used by young people, where they can post and comment anonymously.

Reddit users are also discussing anti-corruption movements in Indonesia and the Philippines. Nepali users are exposing the luxurious lifestyles of politicians and their families.

Meanwhile, youths on Reddit have expressed anger at the government’s ban on Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms.
