Netherlands and Italy have secured their places in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2026, which will be held in India and Sri Lanka, after qualifying through the Europe regional qualifiers.

Although Italy lost their final match against the Netherlands by 9 wickets on Friday, they still managed to qualify. Netherlands also booked their ticket to the World Cup with the win.

With this result, Netherlands finished at the top of the table with 6 points from 4 matches, while Italy came second with 5 points.

The result ended Jersey’s hopes of qualification. Jersey could have gone ahead of Italy on net run rate if Netherlands had chased the target before 14.1 overs. However, Netherlands reached the target of 135 runs in 16.2 overs, allowing Italy to secure second place and qualify.

In the match, Italy batted first, scoring 134 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs. Ben Manenti scored 30, Grant Stewart 25, Harry Manenti 23, and captain Joe Burns made 22 runs. For the Netherlands, Roelof van der Merwe took 3 wickets, Kyle Klein took 2, while Aryan Dutt and Paul van Meekeren took one wicket each.

In reply, Netherlands chased down the target in 16.2 overs, losing just 1 wicket. Max O’Dowd remained not out on 47 runs, and captain Scott Edwards stayed unbeaten on 37.

Scotland, which had been playing in every T20 World Cup since 2016, failed to qualify this time after losing to both Italy and Jersey in the group stage.
