Doctors at Nobel Medical College in Biratnagar successfully removed a pair of scissors from the stomach of a 15-year-old boy from Udayapur. The boy had accidentally swallowed the scissors while playing.

According to Dipesh Rai, manager of the hospital, the boy was admitted on Asar 17 (early July). Doctors performed surgery using the laparoscopic method to remove the scissors stuck inside his stomach.

After the surgery, the boy safely returned home.

The incident happened while the boy was watching TV and playing with the scissors by putting them in his mouth. Suddenly, the scissors slipped into his throat. When he screamed in pain, his grandfather tried to pull them out, but it only pushed the scissors deeper into his body.

The scissors, which first got stuck in his throat, reached the small intestine as the family tried to remove them at home. When local hospitals couldn’t treat the case, the boy was rushed to Nobel Medical College. By the time he arrived, the scissors had reached his stomach.

A team of doctors, including laparoscopic surgeons Dr. Amit Bhattarai and Dr. Dinesh Adhikari, immediately performed surgery and safely removed the scissors.
