A 45-year-old bridge over the Mahi River, connecting Gujarat’s Vadodara and Anand districts, suddenly collapsed on Wednesday morning.
According to BBC Hindi, 15 people have died so far in the tragic accident.
Vadodara District Collector Anil Dhamelia confirmed the death toll and said that four people are still missing, while five others have been injured. He added that three more bodies were found on Wednesday morning, bringing the total number of deaths to 15.
The rescue operation started at 7 AM, with teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and other agencies working on-site. Over 10 government departments and organizations are involved in the rescue and relief work.
Officials have confirmed that most of the bodies have been recovered, but the search continues for the missing.
