One Dead After High-Voltage Wire Falls in Mahottari’s Aurahi

One person died after being electrocuted when an 11,000-volt electric wire snapped and fell in Aurahi, Mahottari.

The incident took place in Ward No. 7 of Aurahi Municipality, at a site where construction work was ongoing on an agricultural road culvert. The deceased has been identified as 32-year-old Chhatu Mukhiya from Ward No. 5, Kanchanpur of Ramgopalpur Municipality.

According to local resident Roshan Yadav, the worker died on the spot after coming in contact with the live wire. Police have reached the scene and are investigating the incident.

Locals claim that the incident happened due to the negligence of the Nepal Electricity Authority, as the wire had not been properly maintained. They also stated that a similar incident had occurred in the same area a few years ago, which also resulted in a death.
