Police in Dhankuta have destroyed around 1,000 kilograms of marijuana and other illegal drugs that were seized at different times.
According to police, they destroyed 999 kilograms and 108 grams of marijuana, 891 capsules of Tramadol, and 891 tablets of Dicyclomine Hydrochloride on Saturday.
The destruction was carried out by the Crime Investigation Unit of the District Police Office in the presence of representatives from the Dhankuta District Court, District Administration Office, local media, and community members.
Police spokesperson DSP Om Prakash Khanal said that a small amount of the drugs was kept aside for lab testing as required by law, and the rest was destroyed with court approval. The drugs were destroyed at the bank of the Tamor River in Mulghat, Dhankuta Municipality–9.
