Police opened fire to catch a drug dealer in Jhapa. A team from the District Police Office, Jhapa, and the Narcotics Control Bureau, Kathmandu, shot and arrested one drug dealer.
According to SSP Krishna Prasad Koirala, the bureau chief, police received information that the dealer was entering Nepal. The police found 36-year-old Mohammad Islam walking suspiciously on an inner road in Bhadrapur Municipality-5.
When the police tried to arrest him, he attacked and tried to escape. Police fired two rounds of bullets to stop him and took him into custody.
Islam was shot below his knee and is receiving treatment at the nearby Provincial Hospital in Bhadrapur.
Police said they recovered about 120 grams of brown heroin from him. Further investigation is ongoing.
