Police used batons during a pro-monarchy protest in Kathmandu on Sunday.

The incident happened when protesters tried to march from Narayanchaur in Naxal toward Baluwatar. Police stopped them, but the protesters tried to force their way through, leading to the baton charge.

Some protesters were injured during the clash.

During the protest, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Nepal Chairman Kamal Thapa was taken into police custody. SP Apil Raj Bohora of Kathmandu District Police confirmed Thapa’s arrest.

Pro-monarchy supporters have been holding protests in Kathmandu since May 28 (15th Jestha), demanding the return of the monarchy and the declaration of Nepal as a Hindu state.
