Nepal women’s football star Preeti Rai has joined Jordan’s Etihad Club ahead of the AFC Women’s Champions League qualifiers. Rai landed in Jordan on 21 July, but the club officially confirmed her signing this Tuesday through its social media pages.

Etihad Club, established in 2018, plays in the Jordan Women’s Pro League and has quickly made a name for itself, winning the league in both 2023 and 2024.

The team competed in the AFC Women’s Champions League qualifiers last year but failed to progress beyond the opening round. This year, they are drawn in Group C with Kelana United FC of Malaysia, Lion City Sailors FC of Singapore, and Sdyushor SI Asiagol of Kyrgyzstan.

Etihad will open their group stage on 25 August against Lion City Sailors, face Sdyushor on 28 August, and finish against Kelana United on 31 August. Rai’s Nepali side, APF Club, will also be in action in the same competition, placed in Group B of the preliminary stage.
