Supporters of the monarchy and Hindu state have started a sit-in protest. The demonstration began after police arrested Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal (RPP Nepal) Chairman Kamal Thapa and four others on their way from Narayanchaur to Baluwatar.

Soon after Thapa was detained, protestors began their sit-in.

According to RPP spokesperson Mohan Shrestha, the sit-in was launched to demand the immediate release of Thapa and the others arrested on Sunday.
“We have started a sit-in protest. If they are not released soon, we will make the protest even stronger,” Shrestha told Onlinekhabar.

Meanwhile, police said Thapa and his group were arrested for trying to enter a restricted area in Baluwatar. SP Apil Raj Bohora of the Kathmandu District Police said the pro-monarchy group tried to break through a police barrier, which led to the arrest of five people including Thapa.
