Rastriya Swatantra Party president Rabi Lamichhane, who was in Rupandehi District Prison for trial in the cooperative fraud case, is being transferred to Nakkhu Jail in Lalitpur. After his transfer, he will be kept in a separate room.
According to prison officials, Lamichhane is being brought to Kathmandu today (Saturday) after 3 pm on a Buddha Air flight. Nakkhu Jail has already arranged a room for him in the CIC block.
Prison administrator Bhimraj Niraula said, “For today, we are keeping him in a separate room in the CIC block. There will not be any special treatment, he will be kept like other prisoners. Later, further arrangements will be managed.”
Lamichhane had requested a transfer in May, and the court had also approved it. However, he was still kept in Bhairahawa until now.
Last week, National Human Rights Commission member Dr. Lili Thapa visited Rupandehi District Prison, where Lamichhane complained that even though the court had approved his transfer, he was not shifted.
