Rabi Lamichhane taken to Nakkhu prison, supporters gather in protest
Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) president Rabi Lamichhane has been taken to Nakkhu Prison in Lalitpur. He was brought from Rupandehi Prison today as per the decision made by the Department of Prison Management yesterday.
Lamichhane was flown to Kathmandu on a Buddha Air flight and then taken to Nakkhu Prison through Tribhuvan International Airport. A large number of RSP lawmakers, leaders, and supporters gathered at the prison to welcome him.
Supporters shouted slogans saying Lamichhane was being targeted unfairly.
He had been kept in Rupandehi Prison since April 8 in connection with the Butwal Supreme Cooperative fraud case. In May, he had filed a request to be transferred to Nakkhu Prison. On May 27, he submitted an application to Rupandehi District Court for the transfer, and the court granted approval on May 29.
