Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) president Rabi Lamichhane is being moved from Rupandehi prison to Kathmandu this afternoon.
Lamichhane had been in Rupandehi prison since April 8 (Chaitra 25) for trial in the Butwal cooperative fraud case. He had applied in May to be shifted to Nakkhu Jail in Kathmandu. Although the court approved, the home administration had delayed the transfer.
Recently, a team from the National Human Rights Commission visited the prison, where Lamichhane expressed concerns about his safety in Bhairahawa. Following this, the government decided to transfer him.
According to the Department of Prison, he will be flown to Kathmandu today at 3:10 pm on a Buddha Air flight.
