Rabi Lamichhane to be transferred to Nakkhu prison

Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) president Rabi Lamichhane will be moved to Nakkhu prison. He is currently in Rupandehi District Prison for trial purposes.

According to Department of Prison Management Director General Lila Prasad Sharma, the decision for his transfer has already been made, and Rupandehi has been informed.

“We have decided to send him to Nakkhu prison as he had requested in his application,” Sharma said.

Earlier, Lamichhane had submitted a written request asking specifically to be kept in Nakkhu prison, and the department approved it.

Sharma recently took charge of the department after being transferred from the Home Ministry. He replaced Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, who was moved to the Election Commission.

Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak had also told a parliamentary committee meeting last Thursday that the process of Lamichhane’s prison transfer was underway.

Sharma said that now Rupandehi prison, along with the local administration and the CDO office, will begin the necessary steps to bring Lamichhane to Nakkhu prison.
