Locals in Rajbiraj are continuing their protest following the death of 35-year-old Lalu Yadav, who was shot by police in Saptari during an anti-smuggling operation.

The protest began around 10 AM and has continued throughout the day. Demonstrators have gathered in front of the District Police Office in Saptari, burning tires and chanting slogans demanding justice. They are calling for an independent investigation into the incident and action against those involved in the shooting.

Protesters claim that Yadav was not involved in smuggling and was wrongly targeted by the police. Tensions remain high in the area, and additional security personnel have been deployed to maintain order.

Yadav died Tuesday night after being shot in the thigh during a police operation aimed at stopping alcohol smuggling into India. His body is still at Gajendra Narayan Singh Sagarmatha Hospital. Police have yet to complete the official site inspection. According to DSP Jitendra Basnet, the postmortem will only proceed after the victim’s family agrees to cooperate with the legal procedures.

Local authorities have urged people to remain calm, but the protest shows no sign of stopping soon.
