Royal Challengers Bangalore Reach Qualifier 1 After Historic Run Chase

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) made it to Qualifier 1 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) by chasing the third-highest target in the tournament’s history.

In their final league match of the season, RCB defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 6 wickets at the Ekana Stadium. With this win, Bangalore secured second place in the points table and will now face Punjab Kings in Qualifier 1 on May 29.

RCB chased down a huge target of 228 runs in just 18.4 overs, losing only 4 wickets. It was the highest run chase in RCB’s IPL history.

Captain Jitesh Sharma led the charge with an unbeaten 85 runs off just 33 balls. Mayank Agarwal also remained not out with 41 runs from 23 balls. Together, they built a strong 107-run partnership. Virat Kohli contributed 54 runs, scoring his 8th half-century of the season and 63rd overall in the IPL. With this, he broke David Warner’s record of 62 IPL fifties — the most in the league’s history.

Earlier, RCB had won the toss and chose to bowl. Lucknow posted a strong total of 227/3 in 20 overs. Captain Rishabh Pant played an outstanding innings, scoring an unbeaten 118 runs off 61 balls, including 11 fours and 8 sixes. Mitchell Marsh also hit a half-century, scoring 67 runs.
