After missing six matches with an ankle injury, Erling Haaland is back in full training and is expected to start against Southampton. The Norwegian striker was an unused substitute in City’s narrow 1-0 win over Wolves, but Pep Guardiola is “tempted” to start him, according to City insider Steven McInerney (Esteemed Kompany).
“Haaland doesn’t need too much training to get going. I think Pep will start him. He’ll want to make a statement,” McInerney told Sports Mole.
Haaland has scored 30 goals in 40 games this season, including 21 in the Premier League.

🔴 Expected to Drop Out:
City are likely to rotate with an attacking setup, as they don’t expect much control will be needed against Southampton.
Southampton have already been relegated and are widely seen as “one of the worst Premier League teams ever”. They have lost 28 of their 36 games and were recently beaten 2-0 by fellow-relegated Leicester.
“This is the most obvious win on paper. City could easily score five or six goals,” said McInerney. “They [Southampton] are a Championship-level side in disguise.”
Manchester City 5-0 Southampton
With Haaland back, Southampton struggling, and City still chasing a Champions League spot, this could be a goal-fest.
