A female teacher was found dead in a classroom at a school in Dhanusha district.
According to police, 34-year-old Bimala Kumari Dhrongching Magar was discovered hanging in the early morning of Shrawan 1 (around 4:45 AM) inside the Early Childhood Development classroom at Janata National Basic School in Jamunibas, Mithila Municipality-8.
She had been teaching in the same classroom. Following the incident, the District Police Office, Dhanusha, has started an investigation.
Initial reports show that Magar had taken a loan from 55-year-old Rajkishor Yadav, a loan shark from Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City-9. Police said they found a suicide note inside the storage box of her scooter, which was parked near the school.
Due to his suspected involvement in mentally pressuring Magar, Yadav was arrested on Shrawan 2 and charged with abetment to suicide.
Police say Magar had borrowed Rs 3.2 lakh from Yadav. Although she had already repaid the loan, Yadav reportedly kept a blank cheque from her and later tried to extort Rs 45 lakh, using threats and pressure.
Yadav is also accused of harassing Magar mentally, threatening her repeatedly, and warning her of public humiliation.
During a search of Yadav’s house, police found 9 original and copied loan agreements, 23 land ownership certificates under different names, and various bank vouchers and cheques.
According to Magar’s family, Yadav had come to her house on Ashar 32 to demand money. He had also threatened to bounce the cheque and send her to jail if she failed to pay. Only a few family members knew that she had taken a loan.
