The first batch of floodlight towers for the TU cricket ground in Kirtipur, Kathmandu has arrived. A total of three towers, brought from India, reached the site sometime between midnight and early morning, according to Rahul Sah, an official from the company responsible for the installation.
The towers are currently placed outside the cricket ground.
According to Sah, this is the first lot of towers, and three more towers will arrive in the next batch.
The lights for the towers will come from a European country, but it may take another 3 to 4 weeks for them to arrive. “We’re not yet sure which country exactly they’ll come from, as several technical checks need to be completed first,” Sah explained.
The foundation work for installing the floodlights has already been completed. Meanwhile, seating installation is currently ongoing on the parapet side.
Chakravarti Kanth, the project head for the ground upgrade, said a new progress report will be prepared in the coming days to update on the work done so far.
