TikTok has launched a new “Search Guide” feature in Nepal starting Friday. This feature aims to help users who are at risk of or affected by sexual abuse by providing timely support.

TikTok says this feature is part of its overall safety campaign to create a safe, supportive, and informative space for users.

Now, when users in Nepal search for words related to sexual abuse—like “sexual assault,” “abuse hotline,” or “me too” they will see special notices with local helpline numbers and links to TikTok’s Sexual Abuse Support page inside the Safety Center.

This page offers educational materials, instructions on how to report abuse, and links to professional support services.

TikTok’s Outreach and Partnership Manager in the Trust and Safety team, Waskito Jati, said, “User safety is our top priority. We know many users come online during difficult times. That’s why we are taking steps to offer help options that guide victims to the support they need and strengthen TikTok’s zero-tolerance policy against sexual abuse.”

The Sexual Abuse Support page in TikTok’s Safety Center explains different types of sexual abuse, such as child sexual abuse content, grooming behavior, sexual assault, and non-consensual sexual acts. It also teaches users how to report such content.

The page encourages users to avoid harmful material and promises full protection of their privacy.

This feature provides information about TikTok’s in-app reporting system as well as external complaint options, making it easier for victims and their supporters to find help.

It includes a database of local and international organizations with expertise in victim care, trauma management, and legal support.

For those seeking community support and empowerment, TikTok also highlights hashtags and content related to healing and recovery.

TikTok says this effort is part of its ongoing commitment to improve digital safety and user well-being through enforcing community guidelines, educational partnerships, and platform-wide measures.

To keep users safe and empowered, TikTok collaborates with experts, victim advocacy groups, and mental health organizations.
