Today’s weather in Nepal: August 17, 2025

The monsoon is weaker in Nepal as the low-pressure line is located south of its normal position. However, moist air from the Bay of Bengal is still entering the country.

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the weather is mostly cloudy across Nepal. Moderate rainfall is occurring in some places of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, and in a few hilly areas of Sudurpaschim and Karnali.

In the afternoon, the country will remain mostly cloudy. There is a chance of moderate rain in some places of Madhesh Province, the hills and plains of Koshi and Bagmati, as well as the hilly areas of other provinces. A few places in the hilly areas of Koshi and Bagmati may see heavy rain.

At night, Koshi, Madhesh, and Sudurpaschim provinces along with the hilly areas of other provinces will remain mostly cloudy, while other regions will have partly cloudy skies. There is a possibility of moderate rain in some places of Madhesh, Koshi, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim provinces, including both hilly and plain areas. Heavy rain may occur in a few places of Koshi Province.
