Education technology company VEDA has secured an investment of Rs 6 crore on the reality show Shark Tank Nepal. The investment was made by shark Hemraj Dhakal in the episode aired on Thursday, making it one of the biggest deals on the show so far.

The company’s co-founder and CEO, Nirdesh Dwa, impressed the investor with his business pitch and the company’s progress. VEDA is currently used in more than 1,300 schools across four countries — Nepal, Brunei, Myanmar, and Japan.

The software has around 3 million users and helps schools manage student admissions, fee collection, finances, and communication with parents through a single platform.

During the show, CEO Dwa valued the company at Rs 60 crore and proposed Rs 6 crore in exchange for 10 percent equity. He shared that in the last fiscal year, VEDA had a revenue of Rs 6.5 crore and made a profit of Rs 80 lakh, with a customer renewal rate above 97 percent.

After several discussions, the sharks jointly offered Rs 6 crore for 20 percent equity at a Rs 30 crore valuation. Eventually, a deal was made with Hemraj Dhakal after agreeing to link the final valuation to the company’s future performance.

According to the agreement, the proposed valuation will be valid only if the company meets specific business targets in the future. VEDA plans to use the investment to expand to around 10,000 schools in Nepal, strengthen its international presence, and develop AI-powered features.
