The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has said that there is a chance of heavy rain this afternoon in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces.
According to the morning bulletin, heavy rain is likely in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and in some parts of the Terai and hills of Lumbini. Other areas may see moderate rainfall.
Tonight, some hilly areas and a few parts of the Terai could get moderate rain, while Gandaki and Sudurpaschim hills may experience heavy rain in one or two places.
The department said the monsoon trough is currently around its normal position.
Last night, places including Gothikanda and Surkhet Airport in Surkhet, Banfikot in Rukum West, Kusma in Parbat, Lumle and Rivan in Kaski, Bhujung and Khudibazar in Lamjung, Bolde in Sindhupalchok, Sundarijal in Kathmandu, and Pakhribas in Dhankuta recorded moderate to heavy rainfall.
In Kathmandu, the water level at the Gaurighat station crossed the alert mark, so the department sent SMS warnings to people living in risk areas.
In Rupandehi, the Lumbini rainfall station also recorded heavy rain. The department warned that small rivers in the area could swell, asking people in low-lying regions to stay alert.
