The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has said that the monsoon system is currently active across Nepal as of Wednesday, July 30, 2025.
According to the department, the monsoon low-pressure line is near its average position, leading to generally cloudy conditions throughout the country this afternoon. Thunderstorms with lightning and moderate rainfall are expected in many hilly areas, especially in Sudurpaschim Province, and in a few parts of the Tarai.
Tonight, hilly areas of the country will remain mostly cloudy, while the Tarai will see partial cloud cover. Moderate rainfall with thunderstorms is expected in some hilly locations and a few places in the Tarai. One or two areas in the hilly region of Gandaki Province may experience heavy rainfall.
Due to possible rain, the department has warned of risks including landslides, floods, and increased flow in rivers. Urban and lowland areas could face waterlogging.
The department has requested the public and all concerned authorities to stay alert, as heavy rainfall may affect daily life, agriculture, health, tourism, infrastructure, roadways, and air travel.
