A clash broke out among youths in Sundhara, Kathmandu, as different groups gathered after the Gen Z movement claiming leadership in forming a new interim government.
Following the resignation of KP Sharma Oli, Nepal is currently without a government. With the Nepali Army taking command and starting talks with youths, several groups have begun putting forward their own leaders to head the movement.
On Wednesday, the Army had asked groups at its headquarters gate to submit names and phone numbers of their proposed leaders and return the next morning. When youths arrived with different recommendations, disagreements turned into clashes.
The dispute is mainly over who should be the interim prime minister. Different groups have suggested names including Sushila Karki, Balen Shah, Kulman Ghising, and Harka Sampang.
As the Army did not allow crowds to gather near its headquarters, the youths moved to Sundhara, where the situation grew tense on Thursday.
