Jhapa Dominates Morang in T20 Cricket, Led by Captain Rubina Chhetry’s Century

Jhapa secured a big win over Morang in the Koshi Women’s Cricket T-20 Series, thanks to a fantastic century by their captain, Rubina Chhetry Belbase.

The match, played on Wednesday at Ilam’s Big Tundikhel, saw Jhapa beat Morang by 130 runs. Jhapa batted first after winning the toss and scored 179 runs, losing only 3 wickets.

Jhapa’s captain, Chhetry, played brilliantly, scoring an unbeaten 111 runs. She faced 68 balls and hit 3 sixes and 19 fours.

After losing their opener, Lakita Rajbanshi, for no runs, Apsari Begam contributed 28 runs and Roma Thapa added 16 runs for Jhapa. Smriti Katuwal remained not out with 6 runs. Jhapa also got 18 extra runs. For Morang, bowlers Kajal Rajbanshi and Kritisha Dhami each took 1 wicket.

Jhapa’s team included players from Nepal’s senior national and age-group teams. Chasing a target of 180 runs, Morang struggled and could only manage 48 runs for 9 wickets in their 20 overs.

Only Kritisha Dhami and Samiksha Rai managed to score double-digit runs for Morang. Morang had lost 8 wickets for just 18 runs by the 10th over. While Dhami and Rai tried to steady the innings, they couldn’t lead their team to victory.

Dhami scored 17 runs and Rai scored 10, but no other batter reached double figures. For Jhapa, Sangita Rai took 2 wickets, giving away only 9 runs in 4 overs. Shabnam Rai bowled 4 overs, with 2 maiden overs, giving up only 3 runs and taking 1 wicket.

Riya Sharma, Alisha Khadiya, and Apsari Begam each took 1 wicket. Rubina Chhetry, for her century, was named the Player of the Match.
