A journalist has been linked to the death of Koili Shahi, a 25-year-old woman who worked as an office assistant at Sisne Rural Municipality in Rukum East.

The chairperson of Press Chautari Rukum West, has been accused of encouraging her to take her own life. A formal complaint (known as a “kitani jaheri”) was filed against him at the Rukum East District Police Office on Saturday evening.

Koili Shahi, who was from Khopichar in Sisne-6, was found dead in her room on Saturday morning. Her family claims that Khatri had been calling her repeatedly and causing her emotional distress.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Uma Shankar Prasad Yadav, an investigation is ongoing and police are searching for Khatri, who is currently missing and not in contact with anyone.

Shahi has already been cremated, but the post-mortem report has not yet been released. DSP Yadav said it will take a few more days to arrive.

Police are continuing the search for Khatri following the complaint.
