A Chinese national has been arrested from Purano Sinamangal, Kathmandu with electronic goods worth more than Rs 2 crore, suspected of evading taxes.
The arrested person is 38-year-old Yu Wang, who was caught with electronic items worth around Rs 2.19 crore from Panchamukhi Chowk in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-32.
According to police, Wang had rented a five-storey house in the area and was selling electronic equipment without permission, avoiding taxes.
He was found selling items like laptop parts, batteries, CCTV cameras, HD cameras, and watches without proper invoices or bills.
Based on information that he was importing raw materials and assembling or processing them inside Nepal, the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office arrested him on Tuesday, said police spokesperson SP Kaji Kumar Acharya.
