

Meteorologists have predicted heavy rainfall in some parts of four provinces in Nepal today (July 18). According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, monsoon winds are currently affecting the entire country, and the monsoon low-pressure line is close to its average position.
This afternoon, the weather will remain mostly cloudy across the country. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is expected in hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces, as well as in some other regions.
Heavy rainfall is likely in a few places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces. There is also a chance of light to moderate rain and snowfall in high hill and mountainous areas. In the lowlands of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces, strong winds may occur.
Tonight, the weather will remain partly to mostly cloudy. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is expected in some areas of Koshi Province, Madhesh Province, and hilly regions. Snowfall is also possible in a few higher areas.
Due to the predicted rain, the department has warned about the risks of floods, landslides, and high river flow. People in urban and lowland (Terai) areas are advised to stay alert as there is a chance of flooding. The public and related authorities are urged to take precautions, as rising water levels in rivers and streams could affect daily life, farming, health, tourism, roads near rivers, and even air travel.
