Weather update for July 28, 2025: Light to moderate rain across Nepal

Nepal is experiencing generally cloudy weather today, July 28, 2025, due to the ongoing monsoon system. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, moist air from the Bay of Bengal continues to bring rain across several provinces.

As of this morning, light to moderate rain has been recorded in parts of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces. A few places in Lumbini Province have also seen rainfall.

Afternoon and night forecast:
The weather will remain mostly cloudy throughout the country this afternoon. Moderate rain with thunder and lightning is expected in some hilly areas of Gandaki, Bagmati, and Sudurpaschim provinces, and in a few parts of the Terai region. There is also a chance of heavy rain in one or two places in the hilly regions of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces.

Tonight, similar conditions are expected to continue, especially in Gandaki and nearby hilly areas, where moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely.

The monsoon low-pressure line is currently close to its average position, continuing to support rainy conditions.
