Man arrested for killing his wife in Makawanpur

A man has been arrested in Makwanpur on charges of killing his wife by strangling her.

According to the District Police Office Makawanpur, 45-year-old Man Bahadur Shivabhakti was staying at his in-laws’ house in Bungdol, Makawanpurgadhi Rural Municipality-5, where he allegedly strangled his wife, 40-year-old Durga Lakshmi Shivabhakti.

DSP Shyamu Aryal said Man Bahadur took advantage of being alone at home and strangled his wife to death.

In his statement to the police, the accused claimed that his wife was paralyzed and unable to move, which had caused him stress. He admitted to killing her and said he later tried to hang himself, but the rope broke. After that, he contacted the police.

Durga Lakshmi’s body has been sent to Hetauda Hospital for post-mortem. Police said further investigation is ongoing.
