Nepal women’s football team reaches highest-ever FIFA ranking
Nepal has climbed to 87th position in the latest FIFA Women’s World Ranking, released on Thursday. This is the highest rank Nepal has ever achieved since the women’s rankings began.
In the previous ranking published on June 12 this year, Nepal was ranked over 100. Before this, Nepal’s best-ever position was 91st, which it reached in December 2017.
Among Asian countries, Nepal is now in 16th place, just behind India. India is ranked 12th in Asia and 63rd in the world. Bangladesh is ranked 104th globally and 19th in Asia.
Nepal recently played in the AFC Women’s Asia Cup Qualifiers in Uzbekistan but did not succeed in qualifying for the main tournament.
