In Sundarharaicha-7, Belgachi of Morang, a person died after a bus hit a city safari vehicle. The driver of the safari was injured.
The accident happened at Belagachi Chowk on the East-West Highway. A Surya Uday company passenger bus (Me 1 Kha 2796) going from Biratchowk to Gachhiya hit a banana-carrying city safari (Pr 1-02-004 Ha 4224) that was crossing the road.
Tulsi Prasad Guragain, 61, from Itahari-4, who was in the city safari, was seriously injured and died during treatment at Nobel Hospital, Biratnagar. The safari’s driver, Bal Bahadur Limbu, 42, from Duhabi-5, was also seriously injured and is being treated at the same hospital.
Other passengers on the bus were unharmed. Police said the accident happened due to the bus’s high speed. The bus and its driver, 42-year-old Lepchan Shah from Sundarharaicha-7, have been taken into custody.
