Clash at Banke juvenile reform home leaves 5 dead

A clash at the juvenile reform home in Naubasta, Banke, has left five people dead and two others injured, according to security sources.

The deceased have been identified as Bhupendra Khatri from Dailekh, Samir Thapa from Banke, Umesh Bista from Achham, Jagat Deuba from Kailali, and Dinesh Ghartimagar from Dang.

The incident took place last night when a fight broke out inside the reform home. Police intervened to bring the situation under control.

The injured were taken to Bheri Hospital in Nepalgunj, where five of them died during treatment. Two people are still receiving medical care.

The clash occurred as protests by Gen Z spread across the country. Some detainees at the reform home tried to escape, leading to a confrontation with police. While a few managed to flee, others remain inside the facility.
