Pop singer Anil Singh has finally got back the digital rights of his 22 songs from Music Nepal and Music Dot Com after many years. Although he received the digital rights after 12 years, the legal agreement with Music Dot Com is expected to happen today, Anil said.

“Right now, I have got back the songs digitally. But the legal agreement with Music Dot Com has not yet been signed. They said they will sign it today,” Anil said.

Anil got back 20 songs from his albums ‘Megaherz’ and ‘Limited Edition’, and two songs ‘Prempatra’ and ‘Maile Janisake’ from the album ‘Gayak’, totaling 22 songs. He is also preparing to take back the song ‘Saanjh Dhaldai Cha’, sung by Nabin K Bhattarai but composed by him.

According to Anil, he had an agreement with Music Nepal that the digital rights of the songs would belong to him. But just two months after the agreement, Music Nepal started claiming the digital rights for themselves, which was against the agreement.

Anil says he struggled for about 10 years because of this issue. He shared, “This situation destroyed me. I might be the only singer in Nepal who doesn’t have a YouTube channel. Even when I sang my own songs on Facebook, the copyrights caused problems and I was blacklisted everywhere.”

  • He added, “They blacklisted me on all digital platforms. That made my world very dark. They left nothing for me.”

Music Nepal had returned the songs, but recently Music Dot Com delayed signing the legal agreement. Anil had made all his agreements with Music Nepal, but because Music Nepal made a digital deal with Music Dot Com, he had to fight for a long time with both companies to get the rights to his songs.
