An Australian climber has died while returning from climbing Mount Ama Dablam in Solukhumbu.
According to Himal Gautam, Director at the Department of Tourism, the climber was Martin Hornegger, who had joined the expedition through Snow Horizon Treks and Expedition. He was 64 years old.
He had received permission to climb Ama Dablam in the spring season on April 7, 2025 (Chaitra 25, 2081). After successfully reaching the summit on April 25 (Baisakh 13), he went missing on his way down. Later that same day, his body was found at the base of the mountain.
His body has been sent to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu, for postmortem.
