A man killed four members of his family in Bhojpur. Rajendra Rai, who lives in Helauchha, Bhojpur Municipality-2, attacked his mother-in-law, father-in-law, wife, and brother-in-law with a sharp weapon in Ramprasad Rai Rural Municipality-2, Dhodlekhani.
According to Inspector Deepak Shrestha of Bhojpur District Police Office, Rajendra called the police control room around 1:15 AM on Saturday night. He said, “I was stabbed with a knife, so I killed people. Please come and arrest me.”
After the call, police officers led by Assistant Inspector Ashok Kumar Khawas from Okhre police post and a team from Bhojpur police station went to the scene immediately.
At the location in Dhodlekhani, police found the bodies of 68-year-old father-in-law Belbahadur Giri, mother-in-law Manju Giri, and his wife and brother-in-law. The wife and brother-in-law were underage, so their names have not been revealed. The wife was 16 years old and the brother-in-law was 10 years old.
Rajendra Rai was found injured in Harbu Bhanjyang, Ward No. 1 of Ramprasad Rai Rural Municipality, about 4-5 kilometers from the crime scene. He had a sharp weapon injury to his stomach and is receiving treatment at the district hospital.
In his first statement, Rajendra said that his mother-in-law stabbed him with a knife around 11 PM on Saturday, which led him to kill the four family members. He is able to speak slowly and has admitted to the killings. The investigation is ongoing, said Inspector Shrestha.
Rajendra Rai got married about a year ago through a love marriage.
