Death toll in Gen Z protests climbs to 31 in Kathmandu Valley

The death toll from the Gen Z protests in Kathmandu Valley has risen to 31, according to the Department of Forensic Medicine at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital.

Doctors at the department said they have confirmed the identities of 25 victims so far. Among the remaining six, one is a woman, but her name has not yet been confirmed.

“We have been conducting postmortems under international protocol,” said Dr. Gopal Kumar Chaudhary, head of the department. “Our responsibility is to store and examine the bodies, not to release personal details.”

Officials say most of the identifications were made through documents found at protest sites or by relatives who came searching for missing family members.

“We are showing the bodies to families of the missing for confirmation,” Chaudhary added.
