Nearly 300 people have fallen ill with dengue fever in Sudurpaschim Province over the last eight months.
The Health Directorate in Dipayal confirmed 288 dengue cases, with the highest numbers in Kailali, followed by Achham and Kanchanpur districts. Kailali reported 65 cases, Achham 41, and Kanchanpur 32 during this period.
Even some remote mountain districts were affected, with Darchula reporting four cases and Bajura 18. The districts of Dadeldhura, Doti, Bajhang, and Baitadi together accounted for 88 cases.
Hemraj Joshi, the Directorate’s Vector Control Officer, warned that dengue spreads most between June and October and urged communities to take preventive measures. He also recommended that local authorities begin “search and destroy” campaigns to eliminate mosquito breeding sites.
Authorities are emphasizing awareness and local-level action to control the outbreak before it worsens.
