Final rites of former Gandaki chief Prithvi Man to be held today

The final rites of Prithvi Man Gurung, former Chief of Gandaki Province, are going to be held today, Sunday, July 27, 2025, in Devghat. Gurung, aged 76, passed away on Saturday morning at his home in Bharatpur after a long battle with cancer.

The funeral procession will start from his residence in Bharatpur and move to the Nepali Congress party office in Narayangadh for final tributes. Later, his body will be taken to Devghat where the last rites will be performed following religious customs.

Leaders from Nepali Congress, including Vice-President Dhanraj Gurung, are expected to attend the ceremony to pay their respects.

Prithviman Gurung served as the Chief of Gandaki Province from July 2021 until March 2024. He was known for his dedication and inclusive leadership. He also served as president of the Nepali Congress Chitwan district chapter and chaired the Land Commission in Nawalparasi.

His passing is mourned by many, and his contributions to politics and public service will be remembered.
