Fire in Gulmi’s Dhurkot kills one person

A fire broke out late Saturday night around 3:00 AM in Dhurkot Amrai, Ward No. 5 of Dhurkot Rural Municipality, Gulmi district, causing the death of one person.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Narayan Prasad Adhikari from Gulmi Police Office, 30-year-old Juna BK, daughter of local resident Manidevi BK, died in the fire.

The fire damaged a one-story house made of stone and mud with a tin roof. Police said Juna Bik had mental health issues.

Manidevi BK, along with her grandchildren 12-year-old Shriddhar BK and 11-year-old Arun BK, were safe.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.

Police were informed at 5:45 AM and a team from Dhurkot Bastu Police Post was sent to the scene. With help from locals, the fire was fully controlled by 6:30 AM.

For further investigation, a police team led by Inspector Rewant Sen was sent from Purkot Daha Police Office to the site.
