An alternate road built along the East-West Highway near Dumkibas and Daunne has been washed away by a flood, completely blocking the Narayanghat-Butwal section of the highway.
According to Yadav Dhakal, Chief of Police in Nawalparasi, the diversion at Binayi River in Dumkibas (under Binayi Triveni) was swept away by heavy rain on Thursday night. A pickup van was also carried away by the flood.
Although work to rebuild the alternate road has started, it may take some time to reopen the route for vehicles.
Just five days ago, another alternate road built near Khursani River, about 5 km east of Bardaghat Bazaar, was also destroyed by a flood. That flood carried away a pickup van carrying vegetables, but there were no human casualties.
Due to the blocked road, many travelers have been stranded.
