MUMBAI, AUGUST 16 – Bollywood actress and politician Kangana Ranaut has once again spoken about the behind-the-scenes behavior in the film industry. In a recent interview, she shared her experiences and said that many male actors in the industry can be “rude” or “disrespectful.”
When asked if she had ever faced inappropriate behavior from male actors, Kangana replied, “I haven’t even worked with many of them, because most heroes are rude.” She added that her comments were not only about sexual behavior but also included issues like arriving late on set, disrespecting actresses, sidelining them, and giving them minor roles. She said these problems have caused her difficulties, and at times, even legal cases were filed against her because she refused to stay silent, while others accepted such behavior as normal.
Kangana debuted in Bollywood in 2006 with Gangster, directed by Anurag Basu and produced by Mahesh Bhatt. She later appeared in films like Woh Lamhe (2006) and Life in a Metro (2007). Her career breakthrough came with Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion (2008), for which she won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress.
In recent years, films like Queen (2014) and Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015) elevated her stardom further. Kangana has won the National Film Award four times so far. Her most recent project was Emergency, which she directed, co-produced, and wrote herself.
According to Kangana, achieving success in Bollywood is not easy for outsiders, but with determination and self-respect, it is possible to carve one’s place in the industry.
