Khaby Lame, the most-followed TikTok star with over 162 million followers, is currently in the news after being arrested in the United States.
According to U.S. media, the 25-year-old Italian citizen was arrested last Friday by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Nevada for overstaying his visa. He was later released under the condition of “voluntary departure” and has since returned to Italy.
In an official statement, ICE said, “On June 6, ICE arrested Italian citizen Khabane Serigne Lame at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas for violating immigration rules. He had entered the U.S. on April 30 and stayed beyond the limits of his visa. He was detained but released the same day.”
As of Tuesday morning, Lame had not made any public statements about the incident. However, Bo Loudon, a social media influencer and aide to Barron Trump, posted on X (formerly Twitter) claiming Lame was arrested in Las Vegas and held at the Henderson Detention Center.
Born in Senegal, Lame is an Italian citizen who rose to fame during the COVID-19 pandemic with his silent reaction videos that humorously mocked overcomplicated internet tutorials.
