Former Nepali national team player Lalit Singh Bhandari has announced his retirement from international cricket. He shared the news on social media on Sunday.
“After a lot of thinking and self-reflection, I have decided to retire from international cricket,” he wrote.
The 28-year-old bowler made his debut for Nepal in 2018 against the Netherlands. That match was also Nepal’s first-ever One Day International (ODI). He took two wickets in the game.
However, after a road accident on Bhadra 27, 2077 (September 12, 2020), he was unable to return to the national team.
The accident happened when a truck (SE 1 Kha 1324) hit the motorcycle (Ma 2 Pa 4705) that Bhandari was riding from Dhangadhi to Mahendranagar. Another person on the motorcycle, Karan Thagunna, was also injured.
Since then, Bhandari had been playing in domestic tournaments.
